You can turn it into a Minecraft device, a living room music streaming device, an Alexa speaker and many other things. But one of the coolest (and simplest) things you can do with your Raspberry Pi is turn it into a wall display that shows the weather, time, date, calendar, and the latest entries from your favorite RSS feed.

For example, the Raspberry Pi 3 B model has a higher power requirement (2.5A), and therefore it requires a certain power brick. It will definitely still work, but the Raspberry Pi 2 Model B ($110 at Amazon) only requires 1.8A, and the Raspberry Pi Zero W requires 1.2A. The two models will work with modern, slim USB chargers, which often deliver up to 2.4 amps. However, if you choose a Raspberry Pi 2, you will also need to run an Ethernet cable on board or choose a WAN adapter.
The perfect board for the job is the Raspberry Pi Zero W, as it is extremely small, lightweight and has built-in Wi-Fi. You will also need an extension cable with at least two plugs on the end. Note whether the monitor’s power supply requires a two-prong or three-prong plug and purchase the appropriate extension cord.
Finally, you’ll need supplies to mount the Raspberry Pi, the monitor’s power supply, all cables, and the female end of the extension cord on the back of the monitor. I used double sided mounting tape. I used masking tape to keep the excess wire attached as tightly to the back of the screen as possible.
Normally, there isn’t enough room to install a Raspberry Pi inside the original back panel – unless you’re using a Pi Zero W. Until then, the extra wires and power supply won’t fit inside the display. The screen will sit close to the wall without the back cover, so it’s best to throw it away.
Connect the Raspberry Pi to the HDMI port on the monitor and – without plugging in the extension cord – connect the power cables to both the Raspberry Pi and the monitor. Use this to find the best layout for all parts to keep everything as thin as possible.

The DAKboard must be loaded with the preconfigured settings. If you want to change something, click the settings gear in the upper right corner of the screen (move the cursor to show it).
Hang your screen on the wall and you will have a digital clock and calendar, weekly forecast, important headlines and beautiful pictures on your screen all day.
