I have a single Flowmaster 40 series muffler that I want to put on my truck. Do I remove it now (because I want to have a double version later, but for now I want to settle for a single for financial reasons), or do I take the truck to the shop and have the muffler?

If you think you might want to replace the muffler later, get a band style clamp. It is like a metal plate that goes around the pipe/muffler and uses 2 bolts to hold it in place. Here’s what they look like:
Lifted 1972 Chevy Suburban 4×4 Is Black Panther Clean Outside, Disastrous Inside
The best part is that you can open it up at a later date and easily remove the muffler. And the muffler is reusable.
However, if you want a more solid road, weld the muffler. The higher, the less likely to be a permanent improvement.
And whatever you do, don’t attach the muffler to the pipe with those cheap U bolt clamps. Trust me, I have faced them more than once. It is PITA to draw the smoke as soon as you enter.
The need for a muffler to pass the inspection depends on who is doing the inspection. Well, you have to have one to keep the noise level down. No, it won’t reduce emissions…but the station can stop you if they want to. Unless you find someone who doesn’t care and is willing to sell stickers.

As for the good advice from DN, I can only add that anti-seize compound is your friend when doing such work.
If possible, I would not weld the muffler, even with a “permanent” installation – because if the car is kept for a long time, the exhaust is not permanent, you can at least replace parts.
Hey how’s it going? Sorry for my late reply but I have a picture of the suburb I want to show you, see here;
If you prepare yourself, you can do well with MACO. It takes a little elbow grease and effort and you can have your truck bolted up, stripped down and ready to paint for less than $300 worth of gear. Then add urethane to the Mako (it’s still the cheap synthetic enamel, but with a urethane hardener that will make the color last). It will still be $500-1000 for a good two tone, but it is cheaper than a regular paint job and will last longer. Preparation is everything to patience and the final finish of a paint job, and if you take the time to do it, you can save a ton of money.

I did the same with my Honda CRX a few years ago. I removed the car, removed the windshield and windshield. I removed all the rice trim and shredded it well. Once the car was fully prepared, I took it to Mako. He painted well. I restored the car with new trim and moldings, it really made a difference. It was worth the few Saturdays I worked on, getting ready.

The Suburban is roomy, which is great for the living room, but it also means it might not fit your lifestyle (or garage). If you don’t need more room, Chevrolet also offers the smaller Tahoe.
The 2021 Chevy Suburban is a large SUV that is ready for the largest family with lots of cargo. We just wish more security features were standardized.
The 2021 Chevrolet Suburban is the latest in a long line of large family cruisers, named after the turn of the 20th century where people didn’t necessarily want smaller — maybe they wanted something smaller. It competes with other large SUVs such as the Ford Expedition, Chevrolet Tahoe, Nissan Armada and the GMC Yukon.
Chevy Suburban Vs. Ford Expedition
Thanks to strong standard features and a comfortable cabin, the updated 2021 Suburban earns a TCC score of 6.0 out of 10. A poor crash test score and lack of standard safety features , as well as poor fuel economy (as you’d expect) underpinning those numbers. (Read more about car appraisals.)
In short, almost everything. The updated 2021 Suburban is more spacious for passengers and cargo, adds a new turbodiesel engine option, and updates multimedia and safety technologies that bring it into the modern era. It has grown even more: 225.7 inches long with a wheelbase of more than 11 meters, with second and third row legroom as well as cargo room, which reaches 144.7 cubic meters.
The Suburban is closely related to the 2021 Chevy Tahoe, which also received updates that we cover separately. Both ride on a platform that pulls the Silverado’s bulk from the standard half-ton pickup truck and gives the Suburban a massive edge. The grille is punched in the middle with the daytime running lights, but is straight as before. On the edge, the suburbs twist and bend with the daylight – at least when the sun isn’t blocking it.
Under the hood, there’s a choice of two V-8 engines: a 5.3- or 6.2-liter that produces 355 or 420 hp, respectively. A 3.0-liter inline-6 turbodiesel that produces 277 hp and 460 pound-feet of torque is available in the Suburban for the first time in two decades. A 10-speed automatic transmission is standard on all models and drives either the rear or all four wheels when equipped. Fuel economy ratings are as high as 23 mpg combined for the rear-wheel drive turbodiesel model and 18 mpg combined for the smaller V-8 (with rear-wheel drive).
Chevrolet Suburban Review
For the first time this year, the Suburban rides on four-wheel independent suspension, which helps the Chevy move better on trails. The optional adaptive air suspension pushes the passengers forward with the end of the load for the alternate tower.
All Suburbans get automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection as standard equipment, with blind spot monitoring, active lane control and an optional camera system. The Suburban received a four-star crash test rating from the NHTSA, but as of this writing has not yet been tested by the IIHS.
The 2021 Suburban is available in LS, LT, Z71, High Country, Premier and RST trim levels. All trim levels except the Z71 have all-wheel drive as standard and the addition of four-wheel drive costs an additional $3,000. The LS leads the way at $52,995 (including a $1,295 destination charge), followed by the LT at $57,795, and the RST at $61,095. The Z71 starts at $63,195, then comes in swanky trims of Suburban, Premier ($66,595) and High Country ($73,595).
The LS comes with a standard 10.2-inch touchscreen, emergency braking, tri-zone automatic climate control, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Each of the top trims houses a wireless phone charger. The High Country model gets the most standard features with leather upholstery, heated and cooled front seats and adaptive suspension as standard.
How Much Does It Cost To Paint A Chevy Suburban?
If you like your full-size SUV to look like a truck, the new Suburban is your cup of tea.
The updated Suburban gets points for the exterior design, but the less daring interior design fills the trim level range and leaves us with the 6 for styling.
The Suburban accentuates its unique shape without trying to soften it with boxy corners and a large front grille. The styling borrows heavily from the Silverado, offering tall sides that get some much-needed sculpting to make them look smaller. The upper side also has large side windows, creating a good line for passengers in the third row and allowing more light into the cabin. The off-road oriented Z71 model looks the most aggressive, with a unique front fascia that gives it a closer angle.
The interior styling doesn’t break new ground, but the new 10.2-inch touchscreen is neatly placed on the dash where it’s easy to see and the rest of the controls are laid out intuitively. The top-of-the-range High Country model has leather around the cabin like a surplus cow, while the lower part will replace it with cloth.
Chevrolet Suburban (chevy) Review, Ratings, Specs, Prices, And Photos
Changes to the independent rear suspension have improved the Suburban’s ride quality, especially when magnetic shocks are available. The big 6.2-liter V-8 has more than enough oomph to move the Suburban with ease. Will have to try the other two engines to see if they deliver
