I wish every day was Sunday. This day comes after a long wait of six days. Sunday comes as a welcome especially for students. It is a great relief on busy weekday mornings. I got up late on a Sunday morning and got to it. My mother also gave me a break from the “early to bed and early to rise” schedule. She prepares any of my favorite dishes for the special Sunday breakfast.

I take a leisurely bath as opposed to a quick one every day. It is also a day where everyone in my family spends quality time with each other. I play with my friends and we often end up playing cricket as it is the favorite game of most of us. Unlike on weekdays, on Sundays the desert playground seems to be full of life with crowds of children playing different games.

Lines On How I Spent My Holidays

Mother calls me for lunch, but only when she shows up when I return home. I wish Sundays were a little longer than 24 hours.

Our teacher loads us with a lot of homework. My parents check my school diary and don’t let me go out with my friends until I finish my homework. I try to do my homework as quickly as possible. I never miss my favorite cartoon show on TV. It is the best source of entertainment. Sometimes, I invite my friends to visit my house. We discuss our plans to organize friendly matches with teams from neighboring colonies. We also went to the pool to spend some time relaxing in the cool water of the pool. It is fun to play water volleyball and dodge the ball in the pool.

In the evening, when we sit down to dinner, the thought of getting up early the next day takes over my head again. With a heavy heart I retired to my bed. Before I go to sleep, I say a sad goodbye to my beloved Sunday and I hope that he will come back as soon as possible. A Sunday is indeed an excellent holiday. The end of my beloved Sunday already lends itself to the Monday blues. I was born on January 24, eleven years ago. For me, these are the days that make me feel very important. I am busy sending invitation cards, organizing games and decorating the room, my birthday. I left some things entirely to my sister. For example, it is up to decorate the cards and write addresses in a very nice font. He also invited his friends to join the party. My father has a very different idea of celebrating my birthday. Last year, he took me to an orphanage and made me contribute money to their welfare fund. This year, he intends to take me to the school for the blind.

My friends start arriving around 5pm. I welcomed each of them and made them sit comfortably in the well-decorated room. They bring me gifts, well wrapped in colorful packaging. My uncle who lives abroad sends me a nice set of pens or a nice pair of jeans. This year again, I hope to get something wonderful from him.

When all the friends arrived, my mother brought the cake to the living room. The candles are lit. As my friends sing “Happy Birthday”, I blow out the candles and use a knife to cut the cake. Everyone wishes me a prosperous future. Some snacks are also served. The gifts are piled in one corner and we are all ready to play the games. Every game seems to be full of fun. They all roared with laughter.

The long shadows of the evening remind us that we must finish. Those friends who come from far away, begin to say goodbye. It is my father’s turn to take me to a charity house, a school for the disabled or a city hospital. He wants me to remember all these people as brothers and sisters and help them in their time of need. I always look forward to my birthday because I feel very happy and important on this day. Remember when I wrote about what happened to narrative writing lessons a while back? This post was actually one I used in my class with my kids (an idea I stumbled across last year in a graduate class I was taking), and this is more of a summary and reflection post that I did. a lot here after trying new things.

How I Spent My Yesterday Essay

We started our Informative unit the same way we ended our Narrative unit: with a prompt writing piece:

Essay On How I Spent My Summer Vacation For All Class In 100 To 500 Words

We then began a very exciting and learning-filled journey in the informational text genre, focusing on how writers organize their writing, write for their intended audience, and use the functions of text in meaningful ways. I will tell the rest of the story in pictures. Be sure to check out the subtitles! (It’s all about text functions, after all!)

This was the first of two informational text units we are doing and we focused on things we knew a lot about, being “experts”. Here is our Rm. 202 List of experts, compiled into individual lists of each.

After creating our expert lists, we spent some time working with some ideas on these lists to see which ones we liked best. We worked to decide what our readers would be interested in learning more about. This chart shows how we focused on the questions we could answer, as well as creating trees or networks to organize subtopics.

This was one of my favorite (and improvised!) lessons in this unit. When we considered what information the reader would be interested in knowing, we had to think about who our AUDIENCE should really be. This chart shows a strategy we tried: we chose two completely different audiences and recorded how the subtopics/questions would differ depending on the reader. Check out the difference between how you would write about shoes for a fashion designer and a child. 🙂 They had some good ideas, didn’t they?

Karl Marx, Yesterday And Today

After spending a couple of days trying out seed feeding ideas and strategies, we were ready to pick a seed, plan it, and then prepare it! The writing was a quick process and I only intended to put the ideas on paper at first. We would start the work of cleaning the dirty parts as the next step! (And in case you’re wondering, I walked out of the classroom that day and my sub made this chart for me. 🙂 )

… and then focus on writing paragraphs to organize our subtopics into chunks that made sense to our readers. We did this for several days because it was a difficult and confusing task for many of us.

First try a paragraph with a topic sentence, 3 details and a conclusion. We wrote this together.

Another paragraph. This is color-coded to try to help writers see each part (though I wish I’d written the topic sentence in green, since that’s how you go… too late, I guess.)

Activities With Adverbs For Classroom Fun

One more paragraph. This was written a few days later as another example of hanging up for children to refer to.

Although there are many ways to describe the structure of a 5 paragraph essay (informative report, poster, etc.), the one I always go to is a sandwich or a hamburger. Please excuse my very poor attempt at art. He did the job. 🙂

Before posting, we planned how our posters would look (which they did based on my suggestion). Everyone created a “map” where each paragraph and feature text would go.

A final step before posting it was editing (for this we had a graphic too, but I did not have a picture of it now). We have focused on how editing is a courtesy to the reader so that they both read and understand our message. Final posters were made and then we did a 5th grade writing to show off our hard work!
